This sun-drenched island is one of our favorite places in the entire world to visit. It’s packed with history, full of character, and incredibly easy to explore without a car. Plus, the food is on another level, so you’ll definitely want to come hungry!

1. Discover the real Cyprus on a journey into the Troodos villages

If you want an introduction to the real Cyprus beyond the tourist spots, this full-day Troodos mountains and villages tour is an absolute must. It takes you away from the busy coastline and into the island’s traditional villages, where you’ll get to see what it’s really like to live on this stunning island! 

One of our favorite stops was Lofou, a quiet village with beautifully preserved stone houses. It genuinely feels like you’re stepping back in time. 

From there, you’ll head to Omodos, which is a bit more lively, with charming local shops and plenty of opportunities to pick up some souvenirs and local goodies. We recommend picking up some fresh halloumi cheese; it’s seriously so good. Over the course of the day, you’ll also stop at Aphrodite’s Rock (one of Cyprus’ most iconic natural landmarks), the Timios Stavros Monastery, and the beautiful Millomeris Waterfall. 

Of course, no cultural tour in Cyprus would be complete without some good food and wine. And you’ll end the tour with a visit to Lambouri Winery, where you’ll get to try some of the best locally-produced wines the island has to offer. 

With transport, tastings, and all your entrance fees either free or included in the price, this tour offers one of the easiest, stress-free ways to familiarize yourself with the island.  

2. Swim the Blue Lagoon on a coastal day trip

If you’re craving a day out with sand and sea, this Aphrodite’s baths and blue lagoon tour is easily one of the best day trips in Cyprus!

The day starts with an early pick-up before heading toward the wild Akamas coastline, which is one of Cyprus’ most untouched regions. Along the way, you’ll stop at the famous Edro III shipwreck, which sits just offshore and makes for a fantastic photo op. You’ll also explore nearby sea caves before hopping on a boat and cruising along the coastline toward the Blue Lagoon. 

On the boat, you’ll have opportunities to swim and snorkel in the crystal clear waters. This is basically the dream Mediterranean swim stop, and trust us, you’ll never want to leave! After your swim, the tour continues to Latchi village and the Baths of Aphrodite. These spots can be a bit tricky to get to without a car, so having it all included in this tour is a huge bonus. 

In our opinion, this tour strikes the perfect balance between sightseeing, swimming, and relaxing, making it a fantastic way to experience Cyprus beyond the beaches.

3. Take the plunge with a discovery scuba dive

If you’ve ever wanted to try scuba diving but weren’t quite sure where to start, this beginner-friendly scuba diving tour in Paphos offers the perfect introduction in a stunning location. 

The experience begins right when you book, with a short e-learning guide to help you get familiar with the basics before you arrive. Then, it continues with a short training session in a swimming pool, where your instructor will walk you through all the basics, like breathing techniques, hand signals, and how to use the equipment. We found this part incredibly reassuring, especially since it had been quite a while since either of us had been scuba diving.  

Once you’re comfortable with everything, you’ll head out to the open water at the Roman Wall, which is one of the area’s most popular dive sites. The water here is crystal clear, and you’ll be able to spot plenty of marine life, including schools of fish, octopuses, and, if you’re lucky, even sea turtles! 

After your dive, you can relax with coffee, soft drinks, and light snacks (all included), which is such a nice way to wind down after such an incredible experience. All the equipment you need is included in your tour fee, making this the ideal experience for visitors! 

4. Uncover 2,000 years of history at the Paphos Archaeological Park

If you’re anything like us and love history, Paphos Archaeological Park is definitely worth visiting! This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most impressive historical attractions in Cyprus and is conveniently located just a short walk from the harbor in Paphos.

The main highlight here is the collection of incredibly well-preserved Roman mosaics. The House of Dionysus is the real showstopper, with detailed mythological scenes made up of thousands of tiny colored tiles. It’s genuinely impressive how vivid and intricate they still are today! The nearby House of Theseus is just as fascinating, featuring one of the earliest known mosaic depictions of Theseus.

Beyond the villas, the site opens up into a much larger archaeological landscape. You can wander past the ruins of an ancient lighthouse and explore Saranta Kolones Castle, a medieval fortress. The views out over the sea from this part of the park are definitely worth the extra walk! 

The park is spread across a large coastal headland, so give yourself at least a couple of hours to explore properly. There’s also clear signage throughout, which makes it easy to understand what you’re looking at and how it all connects to Cyprus’s history. Honestly, at just €4.50 per adult for entry, this might just be the best bargain on the island!

5. Spend an evening at Cyprus’s premier dinner show

If you’re looking for a night out that you definitely won’t forget, this Stardust Variety Show is hard to beat. 

The show itself offers a mix of music and comedy, but the real highlight is the cast of international drag performers. Their renditions of iconic songs by artists like Beyoncé and Freddie Mercury are seriously impressive, and trust us, you’ll be hooked from the moment they come on stage! 

Dinner is also included in the price and is surprisingly generous, with a classic English-style roast dinner served with potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, and seasonal vegetables. It’s not exactly traditional Cypriot cuisine, but it caters well to international visitors, especially English tourists who love holidaying in Cyprus year after year. 

Another big plus for this experience is the unlimited drinks, which include beer, wine, and soft drinks, so you can settle in and really enjoy the show without having to worry about your wallet! And, with hotel pick-up and drop-off included, the entire experience couldn’t be any more convenient; it’s no wonder it has so many 5-star reviews!

6. Eat your way around Cyprus

This is also a quick stop on our first Troodos Mountains tour, but honestly, it’s the kind of place you’ll probably want to spend a bit more time soaking in if you can.

The setting itself is surprisingly peaceful, especially if you visit early in the morning or around sunset. The light at these times gives the whole area a soft, golden glow, making it perfect for photos or simply taking in the view.

There’s also a small beach here where you can swim if the conditions are calm. It’s usually much quieter than the main resort beaches, which is perfect if you’re looking to have a more low-key day at the beach. Just keep in mind that facilities are limited, so it’s a good idea to bring water, sunscreen, and anything else you might need while you’re there. 

Since it’s free to visit and located right along the coastal route, it’s an easy stop to add if you’re planning to take a road trip between Paphos and Limassol.

8. Get off-road in the Akamas on a buggy tour

If you’re in the mood for a bit of adventure, this half-day Akamas ATV tour is one of the most exciting ways to explore Cyprus’s wild side. After a quick briefing, you’ll hop into your buggy and set off with your guide along dusty trails, rocky paths, and coastal tracks.

You can choose to drive or ride as a passenger, depending on your booking option, making it a great choice whether you want to take the wheel or just enjoy the ride. Driving the buggy yourself is honestly such a blast, it’s just not something you get to do every day! Just keep in mind that you’ll need a valid driver’s license to take the wheel. 

One of the first stops is the Sea Caves, where you’ll get a chance to take in the dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear water. From there, you’ll visit the famous Edro III Shipwreck that sits just offshore and makes for a great photo opportunity. You’ll also get to stop at Lara Beach, which is an important conservation area with endangered loggerhead and green turtles. 

To wrap things up, you’ll head to the Adonis Baths Waterfalls, where you can cool off with a swim in the natural pools surrounded by the most beautiful plants and scenery. 

With all equipment and admission fees included, this tour really is a no-brainer if you’re looking for a break from the usual tourist attractions. Just be prepared to get a little dusty! 

9. Watch the sky come to life on a fireworks cruise

If you’ve got an evening to fill in your Cyprus itinerary, this fireworks dinner cruise from Paphos is definitely one to book! It’s the perfect mix of sunset views, dinner, and a show all in one easy, no-stress evening.

You’ll start by sailing along the coastline toward Yeroskipou Bay, just as the sun starts to set. The views from the boat here are absolutely incredible, and the cool evening breeze on your face after a day of exploring is simply perfection. 

Throughout the trip, you’ll be treated to live music and dance performances. There’s also a buffet-style dinner that includes a generous selection of mains and sides, alongside several options for dessert. Drinks are available to purchase, so just grab whatever you like and relax! 

The highlight of the night is, of course, the fireworks display once it’s dark. Watching them light up the sky and reflect off the sea is literally so cool. I tried to get a few videos, but it just didn’t do the fireworks justice! 

Whether you’re traveling as a couple, with friends, or with your family, this dinner cruise is such a fun and relaxed activity that everyone can enjoy. Just be sure to book in advance. It’s super popular (especially in peak season) and often sells out! 

10. Explore the wild sea caves of the Eastern Cape

One of the most unforgettable, must-see places to visit in Cyprus is Cape Greco National Forest Park. It’s a protected area located on the island’s eastern tip, and the scenery here is nothing short of incredible! 

The park is crisscrossed with well-marked trails, ranging from quick 20-minute walks to longer routes that take a few hours. As you explore, you’ll pass through pine forests and open cliffside paths, with plenty of viewpoints overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

One of the standout spots is Kamara tou Koraka, a natural stone arch that frames the blue sea below. This is easily the most photogenic spot in the park, and it’s definitely worth the short walk to reach it. Another must-see spot is the main viewpoint at Cape Greco, which is also worth the trek! 

Entry to the park is completely free, so there’s really no reason not to check it out while you’re there! It’s also relatively easy to reach by car from nearby resort towns. It does get pretty busy, though, so try to arrive early in the morning before it gets too crowded. 

11. Uncork the best of Cyprus on a full-day wine adventure

If you’re a wine lover (or know how to enjoy a good day out), this full-day Troodos wine tour is one of the best ways to immerse yourself in Cyprus’s rich winemaking tradition.

The day takes you into the scenic Troodos Mountains, where you’ll visit three award-winning wineries. Each stop includes guided wine tastings, where you’ll get to learn all about the local grape varieties, like Xynisteri and Mavro, as well as the traditional winemaking methods that have been used in Cyprus for generations.

Along the way, you’ll also stop at Chrysorrogiatissa Monastery, which is a peaceful hillside monastery that you probably wouldn’t stumble upon by yourself. After the monastery, you’ll sit down for a traditional meze lunch in Polemi village. Everything, even the wine, is included, so you can just tuck in and enjoy!

If you’re visiting Paphos and need a break from sightseeing (we’ve all been there), spending a day at this Paphos waterpark is a great way to cool off and have a ton of fun while you’re at it!

Aphrodite Waterpark is the largest waterpark in the region, and there’s plenty to keep you entertained. You’ll find a great mix of slides, some more relaxed, others fast and twisty! The standout is the Free Fall slide, a near-vertical drop that’s easily the park’s biggest adrenaline hit. 

There’s also a lazy river for when you want to slow things down, and the wave pool (my personal favorite) is always a good laugh. If you’re visiting with kids, the dedicated kids’ area is a big plus, with smaller slides and water features designed just for them.

The best part about this park is that your entry includes access to all the rides and facilities, so there are no hidden costs once you’re inside. You can also choose between a 1-day or 2-day admission pass, depending on how much time you want to spend here. Once you’re in, you’re all set, and you can easily spend a good half a day here without running out of things to do!

Elysium is one of the most impressive places to stay in Paphos, especially if you’re looking for a more luxurious, resort-style experience. It’s located right by the sea and close to the Tombs of the Kings, so you’ve got a great mix of beach access and nearby history.

The hotel feels very grand, with elegant architecture and spacious grounds, as well as a beautiful pool area that looks out over the water. There are multiple restaurants on site, plus a spa and direct access to the coastline. It’s ideal if you’re planning a vacation that involves lots of rest and relaxation at the resort! You’re also within walking distance of cafés, shops, and local restaurants, which makes it a nice base for exploring a different side of Paphos.
