The Europe Travel Blog

Hello there! We’re Bailey & Dan
We’re the writers and adventurers behind The Europe Travel Blog.
We started this blog because we love traveling through Europe, in fact, that’s where we met back in 2013! But we know how challenging it can be to plan the perfect trip – sorting out an itinerary to see it all, navigating trains, and avoiding over-touristed areas.
That’s why we created this space: to make traveling around Europe easier, more enjoyable, and a whole lot less stressful.

Europe has long been one of the world’s most beloved travel destinations — and it’s easy to see why. From centuries-old cities and iconic landmarks to unforgettable food, diverse cultures, and breathtaking landscapes, Europe offers an incredible variety of experiences in one compact region. But with its popularity comes a few challenges: top sights sell out quickly, crowds can be overwhelming, and planning the right itinerary makes all the difference.
That’s where we come in. Whether you’re searching for hidden cafés in Paris, scenic train routes through the Alps, charming villages off Italy’s tourist trail, or the perfect hotel in the heart of a historic city — we’ve been there, experienced it, and can’t wait to help you plan it.
Here, you’ll find in-depth travel guides, thoughtfully planned itineraries, hotel and tour reviews, and insider tips that only come from exploring Europe firsthand. We don’t just write about Europe — we explore it, country by country.

Our Story
We’re a married couple whose love story has always revolved around travel, and began right in Europe. We met while backpacking in 2013 — Dan from Australia, Bailey from Canada — and instantly hit it off.
After a year of long-distance messages, Bailey moved to Australia on a working holiday visa, and the rest is history.
Since 2014, we’ve been traveling the world together and turned that passion into full-time travel blogging. Alongside this blog, we also run others about different destinations around the globe.
Over 10 years ago, we explored Europe as true backpackers — living out of our packs, eating street food, and staying in hostels. These days, our travel style has evolved. Now in our 30s, we love great food, good wine, and a comfy hotel bed.
We’ll happily splurge on memorable experiences like a private boat trip, a luxury hotel with a view, or incredible guided tours.
That shift helps us connect with travelers of all styles and budgets — from first-timers to seasoned explorers. Europe is one of those places you can return to again and again, discovering something new each visit.
From swimming in the bluest waters off the coast of Greece to skiing in the Alps and sipping wine in Tuscany, each season brings a different experience.
No matter how many times we visit, Europe continues to surprise us. There’s always more to see, more to taste, and more to fall in love with.
About Bailey

Hi, I’m Bailey
I’m the detailed planner of the duo — the one who loves to know everything before visiting a new place or trying something new. I grew up in Edmonton, Canada, but I haven’t lived there for over 10 years.
Since then, I’ve been exploring the world and eventually settled in beautiful Queenstown, New Zealand. However, recently, Dan and I bought a home in Canmore, Canada, and now live there.
I do everything with a smile, but I’ll admit — I often get nervous before stepping into the unknown. That’s part of why I connect so deeply with other travelers, especially those exploring Europe for the first time.
Bailey’s Europe Favorites
🥘Favorite Food:
Paella from Spain! Not only is the food itself incredible, but the whole experience of eating it is incredible too. It’s a large, richly flavored dish made for sharing, and I love the long, lingering lunch in true Spanish style. We even took a paella cooking class in Barcelona and had the BEST time learning how to make this iconic dish, then eating it, of course!
⛵Most Memorable Experience in Europe:
It’s pretty hard to beat a sunset cruise in Santorini! This is perhaps the most stunning sunset spot in Europe, and cruising along white sand beaches to remote islands, snorkeling, and sipping on local wine is simply perfect. I wish I could transport myself back to that moment now!
💎Favorite Hidden Gem:
Hotel Savoia in Positano, Italy! Okay, maybe the Amalfi Coast isn’t a hidden gem in itself, but this cozy hotel has been family-run for three generations. The combination of the stunning architecture, warm hospitality, and short walk to the beach made this one of the best stays we’ve ever had. Just be sure to book your room early, as it fills up fast!
✈️What Keeps You Coming Back to Europe:
There’s always something new to discover! Even after exploring so many different countries, my Europe bucket list never seems to get shorter — only longer.
🏖️Favorite City in Europe:
Cefalu, Italy! I love the small-city vibe, beautiful beaches, and cobblestone streets. I have a dream to buy a villa here and spend my summers sitting on the beach and sipping wine in the tiny restaurants.
About Dan
The other half of The Europe Travel Blog
Hi, I’m Dan
The spontaneous one of the two. Before my first trip to Europe, I honestly wasn’t sure it would be my kind of place. I’m not a natural planner, and Europe can feel overwhelming with so many countries, cities, and must-see sights packed so closely together. But after that first trip, I was completely hooked. Now I’m the one refreshing pages to book train tickets, museum entries, and hotels the moment they become available.
I love Europe for its food — it’s all about tradition, quality, and time-tested techniques. From fresh pasta in Italy and flaky pastries in France to pintxos in Spain and cozy meals in small-town cafés, every country has its own unforgettable flavors. When I’m not eating my way across Europe, you’ll usually find me walking historic city centers, exploring the countryside, or lingering over a long coffee or glass of wine.
What keeps me coming back is the balance Europe offers — vibrant cities paired with slow moments in quieter towns, mountain villages, or along the coast. Many people think European travel is nonstop sightseeing, but some of my favorite memories come from slowing down, wandering without a plan, and discovering places that feel wonderfully lived-in. That balance is what I love most — and what I hope to help you experience, too.

🍕Favorite Food:
Authentic Italian pizza – hands down! Maybe it’s my Italian heritage, but I never get tired of eating it. I take it upon myself to try pizza in every region of Italy we visit… research for the blog, of course! IF you want to learn to make the best pizza, you can’t go wrong with this pizza-making class in Naples, Italy.
🏛️Most Memorable Experience in Europe:
This sounds cliché, but seeing the Colosseum was even more impressive than I thought it would be. I was skeptical and worried it would be over-touristy, but this guided tour did a fantastic job of bringing history to life and showing the grandeur of the Roman Empire in its heyday. It’s truly as majestic as it seems!
💎Favorite Hidden Gem:
Lake Bled, Slovenia, feels like one of those places that I almost don’t want to tell people about, with its emerald lake, tiny island church, and mountain views straight out of a storybook. It’s peaceful, easy to slow down in, and one of the best hidden gems in Europe for soaking up nature without the crowds.
✈️What Keeps You Coming Back to Europe:
Europe’s blend of old and new fascinates me every time. One moment you’re wandering through ancient ruins or medieval streets, and the next you’re surrounded by modern cafés, galleries, and everyday life. There’s nowhere else quite like it.
🍺Favorite City in Europe:
Munich, Germany has everything I love — great food and beer halls, beautiful historic sights, and easy access to nature, with the Alps, lakes, and hiking trails just a short train ride away. Oh, and Oktoberfest is too much fun!
